enCodePlus, the most advanced online planning and zoning software available in the United States, has recently launched Site Navigator, a new tool that organizes plans and zoning ordinances, as well as related documents for easy access by the public.
“Planning and zoning documents are essential to what we do as planners in cities, counties and other local governments,” says Bret C. Keast, AICP, CEO of enCodePlus and parent company Kendig Keast Collaborative. “They are typically not organized, formatted or written in ways that lend themselves to an easy read. We’ve collaborated with clients and colleagues to develop the new Site Navigator tool to address this universal planning challenge.”
Site Navigator can be applied to plans (Plan Navigator) or zoning ordinances (Zoning Navigator) to make them easy for viewers to understand, research, cross reference and make meaningful connections from section to section within a single document or across multiple documents. Text within a plan or code can be linked directly to relevant regulations, guidelines, design standards and other associated materials.
The fully customizable feature can be created to match a community’s brand. The design, layout and content are unique to each project to maximize the functionality of links within and among documents.
Examples of early implementations in local communities across the United States include the following:
• Borger, TX Comprehensive Plan, Downtown Plan and Parks Master Plan – Plan Navigator
• Cape Coral, FL Comprehensive Plan – Plan Navigator
• Greensboro, NC GSO 2040 Plan – Plan Navigator
• Menifee, CA Development Code – Zoning Navigator
• San Ramon, CA General Plan – Plan Navigator
