The city of Greensboro, North Carolina enjoys one of enCodePlus’ most engaging portals. Their journey with enCodePlus began in 2014, with the adoption of a new Land Development Ordinance (LDO). Part of the LDO update process included publication online for easier access to the regulations, and enCodePlus was already a frontrunner in the field of online code management. The LDO portal was established with hyperlinked cross- references, pop-up definitions, a Quick Tables area displaying commonly referenced tables, development calculators for estimating landscaping, parking, and signage requirements, and more.
In 2020, Greensboro was ready for a new update: this time creating a new Comprehensive Plan titled GSO 2040. They came back to enCodePlus requesting an attractive way to showcase this plan that would impress the public. The project began with the re-creation of the plan in an online format, a collaborative process utilizing enCodePlus’ flexible design capabilities. A robust, multi-page website was developed from that document, becoming the first example of what is now known as a Document Gallery. The Document Gallery goes beyond simply displaying a plan to be read; it provides a modern, interactive user experience with dedicated pages for important topics, interactive maps, plenty of eye-catching images and callouts, and embedded videos.
Greensboro’s two portals display the range of the enCodePlus system and the company’s willingness to grow and adapt to its clients’ needs over time
