In 2023, the staff of Basehor, KS partnered with enCodePlus to perform a legal review of their Code of Ordinances. This involved a full review of the document by a licensed state attorney for consistency and compliance with all applicable laws, which took place within the enCodePlus system. Using CloudWriter allowed comments to be left on specific regulations for easy reference by city staff and enabled all editors to access the text as needed without relying on shared Word or PDF documents. Once the review was completed, city staff began the process of incorporating the attorney’s recommendations via ordinance.
During this time, enCodePlus staff added Quick Reference Tables to the portal and codified amendments to the Code of Ordinances that had been adopted during the legal review period. City staff also decided to leverage the system’s design capabilities and migrate their Architectural Design Standards, Design Manual, and Technical Specifications – all documents with a large number of images and tables – to their portal. Each of these various documents benefits from enCodePlus’ standard features, such as hyperlinked internal cross references and pop-up definitions. Basehor and enCodePlus continue to work together to keep their documents up-to-date and publicly accessible.
