Madera County in central California is an excellent example of enCodePlus’ ability to host and navigate a large number of documents. Over the course of several months in 2021, we converted the County’s Development Ordinance (comprised of Titles 16, 17, and 18 of the County Code of Ordinances), General Plan, Standard Plans and Specifications, and 10 Specific Area Plans into the enCodePlus software system. In addition to the interactive web versions of these documents, eReaders for the Development Ordinance, General Plan, and Standard Plans and Specifications were developed for users who prefer to read the documents in a book-like format.
The General Plan is set apart from the other documents with a Site Navigator. This custom landing page provides users with direct links to commonly-referenced portions of the plan, enabling them to quickly find just the information they are looking for.
This year, the County plans to use the document editing capabilities of enCodePlus to draft an updated Zoning Ordinance. Once the drafting is completed, new development calculators and GIS features will be incorporated into the site, making it an even more robust Development Services Code Portal. As Madera County continues to evolve and refine its digital resources, enCodePlus will continue to be used as an adaptable and user-friendly tool, ensuring seamless access to an array of documents and enhancing the user experience.
