Winter Park, Colorado, is a beautiful town in the Rocky Mountains that is home to just over 1,000 permanent residents and a high influx of visitors during peak vacation times. Residents and visitors alike love the natural mountain landscape, and when the town needed to update their Unified Development Code (UDC) in 2019, they made integrating development with the natural surroundings a key goal of the project. They then made the eco-friendly choice to partner with Kendig Keast Collaborative and enCodePlus, which allowed them to collaboratively draft regulations and present them for review entirely online.
When the UDC was adopted in 2022, enCodePlus staff put the finishing touches on their public portal. Features such as hyperlinked internal cross-reference and definitions help users easily navigate and better understand the regulations. Consistent formatting throughout the document and website design ensures an attractive viewing experience that reflects the town’s branding choices. Quick Tables also aid users by presenting zoning district standards and development review procedures in a unique page separate from the text of the regulations.
Thanks to enCodePlus and Kendig Keast Collaborative, Winter Park residents have convenient access to development regulations that guarantee they continue to enjoy the natural wonders of their hometown.
